Secondly a quick mention that over at Haunted Design House I have just put up the swap partners list, so if you are taking part please head over and see who you are swapping with.
And finally, this tag. I bought my first craft mag (craft stamper) last week and the first article was about doodling,It was written by Lisa Mason, I have seen a lot of zentangle and doodle pages/cards whilst hopping so I thought it was about time I had a play.
This was great fun as the bulk of the work is not messy, both the better half and myself grabbed some card an image and a black pen, we then spent a couple of hours doodling whilst watching tv one eve.
I cut a big oversized tag and used one of my Octopode Factory rubber stamps (the scarecrow from Oz) Isn't he cute ;) I basically followed the instructions from the mag (November edition)
Once the dooling was done I decided to add some colour, for some reason I have only seen black and white, not sure if I am breaking any
Using a red Copic I filled in some of the areas and I painted Scarecrow with distress ink pads.
The quote is a Dyan Reaveley Stamp.
I think this will find a home on my sisters Xmas present.
Thanks for stopping by.
I would like to enter this into a couple of challenges.
The Octopode Factory challenge is 'Words'
Over at The Corrosive Challenge Blog they are having an Anything Goes challenge.
Now that Zentangling is fantastic. Love that you have added colour as it works so well with the scarecrow and makes it more personal to you. Hugs, Buttons x
ReplyDeleteThis looks great,i think the scarecrow is weirdly cute in a funny kind of cute way...I love craft stamper..full of inspiration!! A great tag too!! Trace. X
ReplyDeleteGreat fun Mark. It's nice and quirky. Adding colour is not breaking any "carnal" rules by the way, perhaps you meant cardinal? Or there's something X rated about your scarecrow that i'm missing?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and quirky tag. You have used so many current favourite things here Mark. The red makes it pop!
ReplyDeleteHi Mark, firstly thanks for arranging the swap! Your zentangling is amazing and no, you have not broken any rules and the colour on yours really brings the cute scarecrow to the fore. Really like it. You should by CS more often, it is a great and inspirational mag. Anne x
ReplyDeleteHey Mark,
ReplyDeleteGREAT zentangles. Heck, I think you can do your own thing as far as zentangling goes, maybe just call it doodling instead? I like the pop of red as it helps everything else just pop off the page.
Snort - just read Neil's comment above. Haaaaa
Hugs,
Kay
What a brilliant tag - the zentangles are so varied, and I love the red frames (know nothing of zentangling rules, carnal, cardinal or otherwise - so frankly I could give a damn - it looks great!). And the ink colouring on the scarecrow is just wonderful!

Breaking rules or not...your tag and doodles look cool. I can't even spell that zentangdings....(:o)
ReplyDeleteI love this Mark. I think the red works well and your doodling is very thoughtful and cool. I am putting this image on my wishlist right now. It never looked interesting to me before but now I love it! Miss your blog - I need to make sure and keep up better!
ReplyDeletevery cool doodling, mark! <I suck at it lol
ReplyDeleteBrilliant tag Mark, love the colouring on your scarecrow. Plus I'm envious of your doodling talent!!! No there aren't any rules about adding colour :) You'll find there are colourful doodles out there as you blog hop around :) And personally, I'd prefer to look at blogs where carnal rules are broken lol. ReplyDeleteI love everything about your tag Mark, the image, the tangles and added colour - It's fabulous.
ReplyDeletexxx Hazel.
The drawing just adds to the fun! Love all the different looks each section of the doodling created!
ReplyDeleteLove the zentangle work. It's great when you find something you can do together and in front on the telly. Love the colouring of the sack on the stamp by the way.
ReplyDeleteKyla
I'm always amazed by zentangle stuff and this looks fab Mark. There are some amazing tutorials out there but I like the idea you had of just sitting down with a pen and card and having a go. Great image there too.
ReplyDeleteJuliaxx
Absolutely brilliant doodles. Did you guys doodle on random paper then place it on the tag or doodle on the tag? Love the scarecrow and the colouring, I use cosmic shimmer and distress reinkers to colour sometimes. Brilliant tag and I am sure your sister will love it. :)
