I started with the distress inks, mainly greens and then added a little vintage photo in with a tiny bit of black for the back ground. the elephant images were stamped onto tissue paper in brown stayzon and stuck on with clear bee's wax the sentiment was stamped in black. The tissue paper with the text on it was a great find In the clothing shop All Saints, I think the use it for packing their items, there were several sheets abandoned on the shelf last time I was in there so it made its way into my bag, well shame to have it thrown out ;)
For the rusty section I used some Dreamweaver Kanji stencils, they mean Love, Harmony and Longevity. They were then painted over in another of Andy Skinners Timeworn techniques.Hopefully there is enough brown to qualify for the challenge.
I am also entering this into Hels Sheridans Sunday Stamper challenge where it is something for the boys.
And over at Sarah Hurley's Challenge Blog where the challenge is Dimension and Texture.
Thank you everyone who looks at my stuff and leaves comments. It completely blows my mind to have you guys pop by.

What a great mixture of texture, rust and script background. I've tryed wax once, but wasn't pleased with the finished look. When i look at your canvas now, i think i'll give it a second chance. (:o)
ReplyDeleteI have played with the wax twice now and have been really pleased with the outcome but am sure i lucked into it lol, not sure if the different waxes make a difference, my craft store had two types, I just got the clear one. it has a little yellowness to it but I quite like it as its a little vintage. thanks xx

Very cool! Congratulations on your win at SSS. Blessings!
ReplyDeletethank you so much, Still a bit staggered by it.
DeleteMark...this is a fabulous piece. I am so glad that you are one of the TOP THREE at SSSS for our bits of brown challenge. I'm like Dan in that I've been waffling about the elephants stamp. You have done a beautiful job with them! This canvas is truly amazing! I love your layering of tissue; stamped with your elephants and the great text tissue you found! That would have made it into my bag, too! :) Your Andy Skinner technique on the trip running down the left side of your tag looks amazing! Beautiful combination of different textures and mediums on this piece! Congrats...your work is awesome! <3 Candy
ReplyDeletethank you Candy, means a lot.x
DeleteA fantastic card, great image and texture. Congrats to your Top 3 :)
ReplyDeleteI love that elephant. The techniques you have used are superb. I used tissue paper with traced images on it but it looks so shabby compared to your work. You are one talented dude! ;p
