This week the Stampendous Design Team are sharing makes using the new Stampendous products that have just been released, I am joining in today with my first make as part of their new Mixed Media team.(we will be creating projects for the Stampendous Catalogues and joining in time from time with the Awesome Stampendous DT.)
If you head on over to the Stampendous Blog you can find more info and more projects using the new products.

I used a 6x8 inch box canvas and built my background up using the different Frantage Embossing Powders.
Once the powders cooled down I used the Maple Branch metal stencil and using a stencil brush added.
I stenciled first using the black media fluids and then off set the stencil and went over using the white paint to create a shadow effect
the leaves were stenciled with the green gold and burnt orange to give an autumnal feel.
I wrapped some thin cord around the edges, Not really sure why but it felt right ;)

Thanks for stopping by, hopefully if you have some time we will see you over on the Stampendous Blog. xxx

Thursday

Ok, So after a little tease on Facebook earlier this week and a rather delayed post today (heat stroke is a Pain)
I am now sharing my Latest (and last ;-) ) Dalek made from one of Tando-Creatives Christmas tree advent calendars.

I have had to improvise a couple of extra pieces for the body and head and the skirt has been made out of strips of masking tape.
The Dalek has been decorated simply with Decoart Media Fluids, Pyrolle Red over a white base coat.
The drawers have been painted black along with the arms and skirt. The fronts of the Drawers have been embossed using Stampendous's Sparkly (yes I used Sparkly) Embossing powder Twilight

I love the different flecks of colour in the Twilight pot of powder.

Now this little fella will be making it's way to Laura from Stampendous as a little thank you for all the amazing help organizing my first crafty trip to California later this year.

I will be visiting three shops in California this October and I will be teaching a new mixed Media class using a brand new kit for my class from Tando-Creative, we will also be using lots of Stampendous and Decoart Media products to create a tag storage box and an assortment of tags using several mixed media techniques.

More class pics coming soon.

This is where I will be, Hopefully I will see some of you there xxx.

Decoart Media Blog - Under The Sea CHallenge

Afternoon, I hope all is well in your corner of the world ;)
Now if you have been following the Dcoart Media Blog the last week or so you will have noticed we have a new challenge going on. The theme this time is 'Under The Sea'.
You have till the 12th August to enter and we want to see your interpretation of our theme xx.

My DT make for the Challenge is a little seascape canvas.

Materials List:

Decoart Media Fluids; Hansa Yellow Medium, Primary Magenta, Cobalt Teal Hue, Prussian Blue Hue, Carbon Black.
Decoart Media Tinting Base.
Decoart Media Gesso.
Decoart Media Texture Sand.
Decoart Media Satin Varnish.
Decoart Decoupage Matte Glue.
Tissue Paper, Various Embellishments Beads, charms etc, The stamp is from Graphic 45. Canvas and Paint brushes.

Use a pallet knife and apply some modelling paste to the canvas, apply a thicker layer where you want to add embellishments, Push the embellishments into the wet modeling paste and leave to dry naturally.
I have left an area fairly smooth and large enough for the stamp I am using in the centre of my canvas.

Add a thinned down coat of Gesso and work it into all the awkward spots, add a little texture paste to areas of the canvas to build up the texture. Leave to dry and add a coat of the tinting base to leave a nice clean and even base to work on.

Starting with the Hansa Yellow then the Primary Magenta start blending and applying the colour, leave to dry and then add the Cobalt Teal Hue.These colours are on the transparent side and just painting over other colours is a great way to blend and add more colours whilst using a limited pallet. To build up the Teal colour I stippled the paint on quite thick in places, the thinner areas give you the more purple hues when you paint over the Magenta and some nice greens over the Yellow.

I stamped my design using Black Stazon Ink onto the tissue paper.

Making the wash, Add a small amount of paint to your craft sheet and add some clean water, the Media fluids are pretty much pure pigment and an acrylic base, no fillers so a little goes a long way and the colour intensity remains strong  even when watered down.

Carefully cut or tear around the image and glue down using the Decoupage glue.
Make a wash using the Prussian Blue and using a mop brush (these hold lots of water and make adding washes a lot easier) dab the wsh around the edge over the Cobalt Teal, be careful not to have the wash encroach to much onto the brighter areas. If needs be mop up the excess with some kitchen roll.

The wash once dry sits in all the low spots and provides the darkest colour, I used some Dry Brushing to pic out all the raised areas.
I wanted to use the Hansa Yellow as my highlight colour, as this is a transparent colour and lighter all it would do is turn the blue a shade of green, to keep the yellow cleen first dry brush with the tinting base.
Build up the white gradually, its better to go over the area several times rather than trying to do it all in one go.
When dry brushing, add a little paint to the brush and then wipe most of it off onto a rag or kitchen towel. Gently flick just the tip of the bristles across the surface of the raised areas. I used a softish 3/4 inch brush for this canvas as I wanted a softer look to the dry brushing,

The dry brushing was repeated with the Hansa Yellow and once dry the sides of the canvas were painted Black and all was given a coat of Satin Varnish.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed the canvas xx

California Dreaming in October

Good morning all, Some really exciting news to share today and it's the culmination of lots of work (thank you Laura) but it's happening.
I will be heading to Sunny California this October to teach a new class using a brand new kit I designed with Tando-Creative.
We will be making several Mixed Media Tags and decorating a box to keep them all in.
The class will be using Decoart Media Products and lots of goodies from Stampendous.
We will be playing with Acrylic, grey board and some nice chunky MDF tags.
Ill be adding new and different tags to the kit as we get closer to the event x.

I will be at

Sat 22nd October. It's all about the Scrapbook in Dixon
Sat 29th October. The Stamp Addict in Sand Diego
Sun 30th October. Scrapbooking Forever Westlake Village

It would be great to see some of you there, I am so beyond excited as not only do I get to teach in the states, I also get to be in the USA for Halloween, something I have wanted to do for years.xx
Again a huge thankyou to Laura from Stampendous for helping set things up and a big thanks to the three shops for having me join them xx.

Just for Fun

Morning all, I hope you are all keeping well this Sunday?
I had a quick play yesterday with some of my new Stampendous goodies and the Decoart Media Misters.
I used a Media Board from Tando-Creative and added some Stampendous Embossing Enamels, Twilight, Aged Marine and Verdigris.

Using Black Stazon ink I stamped one of the new Stamp releases 'Chilling'.
I decorated a wooden plaque with Decoart Media Misters, Red and Yellow.
If the Media misters are new to you, they are a permanent acrylic paint in a spray bottle much like the water based ink sprays that are out there, the advantage the Media misters have is that once dry they will not be reactive with varnishes or other layers of paints etc unlike the water based sprays.
You can even spray them over metal, painted and sealed surfaces and they will dry properly and keep their colour intensity unlike some of the ink based sprays that look vibrant for about 10 mins ;)
I added started with the red mister and then swapped to the yellow straight away, this allows the colours to mix and blend naturally and bellow you can see the close up of the kind of effect you will be left with,

The plaque was finished by giving them a coat of Satin Varnish and the Media Board was glued down.

Thanks for stopping by, Ill have a full post with the Details of my upcoming California trip in the next few days.

Stampendous Media DT and California Workshops

Firstly. Happy 4th July to my American friend and followers x. Hope you are having a good day away from work 😜  Thanks for stopping by, today my post is two pronged but both related ;)
Firstly, I am over the moon to say a little while back Stampendous  asked me along with Katy Leitch of Postcards from the Attic and Dee Adams of Dee Adams Art to be part of a new Mixed Media Design Team they are putting together. Of course we all said yes and have already been busy creating with their new products ready for their new catalogue release and we will be sharing our makes very soon. We will also be popping up alongside their Longstanding DT every now and then xx
A Huge thank you to Laura Weed and all from Stampendous for asking us to be part of their creative family, I know we are all looking forward to working with the awesome Stampendous range and are very excited to get going.

Here are the links to our Face book and Blogs in case you would like to see who is who xx

Secondly!!

I am also bursting with excitement as in October I will be heading to The USA to teach and one of the best parts is I will be there for Halloween, I have wanted to be in the USA for my fave holiday for as long as I can remember.
Now as we all know, everything is bigger in the States so with this in mind I have taken my mixed media ATC class and made it bigger, It's a class based around Tando-Creatives Media boards which I am addicted to using, they make great tags, toppers and even Cards ;)
I have also designed a new Media tag storage box and there will be some new variations to the existing media boards.
Dates are still being confirmed for a few venues but I will be at the Stamp Addict on the 29th October
and I am hoping to be in the Dixon and Thousand Oaks area so fingers crossed xx
I will do a full write up once things are confirmed and share a few more pics of the project.
Thanks as always for stopping by and joining me xx.
