Octopode. Do not adjust your set, I have not been hacked, Honest.

Yes it is me, Do not worry. Time for something a little different. Ok A lot different from my normal style.
I have been working on some more images for Lily over at the Octopode Factory, and today I can share with you one of her new 'Edwardian Lovely Ladies' there are for of these lovely ladies to choose from and I used Philomena.
You can head over to her Etsy shop HERE to find them as well as loads of other great images.
This was a great challenge for me and pushed me right out of my comfort zone but I really enjoyed it, something I never saw myself doing but I am really pleased with how she has turned out.
I decided to make a little fat page for a book that does not yet exist ;)
I cut some mount board to a six inch square and covered it with a very feminine paper from Graphic 45 I think. This involved me going around my local store with Philomena in hand holding her up against all the papers till I found one that worked.
The edges of the paper has been distressed with a little black soot distress ink and I added a couple of flowers from Studio 490, they have been given a very light go over with some spun sugar distress ink just to help tie them into the bg a little better.
Philomena has been coloured with Copics, more earthy and gentle colours than I normally go for but I was trying for elegant ;)  she has been fussy cut and clear embossed twice and glued in place.
Finally to make the page, I measured out where I wanted my eyelets to go and used my cropodile to punch holes and add the metal eyes.
I will be back with more Octopode tomorrow as they start their new challenge on the Toff challenge blog.

Thanks for stopping by, Hope it was not to much of a shock to those that may know my blog ;)
hopefully Ill see you tomorrow xx

I would like to enter this into a couple of challenges.

Copic Marker Europe are having a 'Girls Aloud' challenge. Girls images only.

Try It On Tuesday are having a 'Feminine and Fancy' challenge, this is about as Feminine as I think I can get lol, hopefully its fancy too. ;)

  2. Wow now that is a surprise post lol. As you say, very different from your usual style. And it is still stunningly good and as talented as your more expected designs. Love the fact that you can adopt whichever style takes your fancy. You are definitely expanding your creative repertoire :) Px

  6. A lot different, but still with a certain edge in the colouring of the image that reveals it's no ordinary pink card! Brilliant step outside the comfort zone - with fabulous results...

  10. awwww so very cute!!!!

LOL I read your spotlight interview over at smeared and smudged forum a while back, and you said you hoped you were never going to do "cute" (something like that anyway)

now this is CUTE and PINK lmao

I think you should do what ever you like, cute, dark, as long as you have fun doing it (I go from bloody to creepy to cute, I like it all, and when things are getting to cute just creep the cutsey image up LOL)

  13. I did have a snigger when I first saw this the other day Mark! Not to be nasty because quite frankly, I couldn't do anywhere near this well with such an image and no pens!! I love the colouring and at least she has all her facial features! You are clearly very adaptable. . . . or multi talented or whatever you call it. . . .
Still struggling with that colour challenge :( and still smiling at the other news - yayyyy!
    Enjoy your weekend.

  17. Mark,
The over all effect of your Fat page is perfect! You chose the right colors, a craft store with Philomena in hand and holding her up against all the papers till you found the one you wanted, I so wish I could have been there LOL! This is feminine, however it shows that you are truly talented, because you can be versatile as well. You know how not to get stuck in a rut! Great job.
    Peace,
    Kristy
