Another scrape the deadline job for this challenge, I blew my vagabond up in the week and am with out till Sizzix send me a new one :( really had to rack my brain for this challenge.Over at
Haunted Design House the challenge is Eerie Elegance. Now I was thinking I might do something with a nice embossing folder, cut out some fancy dies and muddle something together, bear in mind I am a bloke, Elegance is not a strong trait for me ;) With the death of my dear Vagabond friend I really needed to re think what I could do.Luckily I found this printer tray by
Tando-Creative and thought I would do something with that.I also Picked up this great velvet like paper, its a more vivid red than the pic shows, its a little bleached unfortunately. Red and Black are a classic elegant colour scheme, In the top little window I sandwiched a spider web stamped piece of acetate and a spider charm, next to him I sandwiched a piece of the velvet stamped with the red 13 stamp from Tim Holtz. then there is the mini figure, Its brother is on my dark arts book cover, and lastly A flower that has been stamped and coloured with distress inks.The printer tray was painted black and the top was embossed with black embossing powders.The inside cover has some Tim corners and the velvet paper has a few more stamps.

This is freaking awesome!!!!! I really want to start doing stuff like this, you are an inspiration! :)

very elegant for a bloke!sorry to hear about the death of your vagabond- my cuttlebug was attempting to split in two last week but I think I have rescued it but it needs tlc from now on

...oh Mark gosh your Vagabond, what on earth happened? a fault? bit of a mare!...it's not effected your art though...loVe the red velvet paper the bleached area adds effect, loVing all your elements, & that flower is a cracker, Eerie Elegance is a toughy but you've come up trumps...superb making...Mel :)

What a shame about your Vagabond, hope you get your new one soon. Like the way you have improvised without it though, you are thinking like a seasoned crafter! The elements all work so well together, not a fan of spiders but it looks right on your piece. The flower is a beauty and the embossing on the front is perfect.

Sometimes our set backs (like not having your Vagabond right now) can open up our creativity and allow us to channel things in another/new direction. I think this is incrediably elegant and so interesting. You make the most amazing things!!!!!! Hope you get your friend back soon.

ReplyDeleteI am LOVING the Andy Skinner online class! Unfortunately, we've had company all last weekend, so I've not gotten to play with any of his techniques yet. But, I've finally gotten all of the supplies, and I'm adding more notes to the PDFs of each technique while I'm watching the videos. I have more to view and then hopefully I'll have time to have a play with them. They are intriguing and I can't wait to experiment with them! I love them!

I particularly love the colours and that flower is wonderful. Really don't do spiders and haven't got my head round 'fractured dolls' as I find them spooky - I suppose that's why you have them featured here! Love your work and I'm your latest follower!
