Evening all, or should I say morning, a late night here and I'm sharing a post that should have gone up yesterday but I just have not been near my laptop for a couple of days.
It's time again to start a new challenge over at The Octopode Factory and the theme this fortnight is 'Wings'. Simple huh? basically we want to see any style of craft project but you must include wings somewhere on your piece.
I have used Lily's Tell Tale Heart image from her Edgar Allan Poe set and this was my starting point for the tag. The heart was coloured with Copic's and clear embossed. The wings were also coloured with Copic's and were cut with one of the Tim Holtz dies.Heart with wings I think.
The tag was painted with Decoart acrylic paints, and the circles were stamped, also with paint. The initial colour was too light so I gave the whole thing a wash of Decoarts Traditions Phthalo Blue this is a translucent blue and added depth and a richness that helped match the heart.
I also stamped a script stamp from The Artistic Stamper with black archival ink. The 'Fly' was stamped with versamark ink and embossed with some Frantage powder, I also went round the edge of the tag. I finished the tag off by giving it a couple of coats of embossing powder.
As always we would love to see you join in the fun over at The Octopode Factory. And remember you do not have to use an Octopode Image, Of course we love it when you do and if you do your name will go into the prize pool twice. x
Thanks for stopping by xx

Guest Designer - Simply Steampunk Challenges
Welcome back and thanks for stopping by again, It's been one busy month over here at Speshink ;)
A while back I was asked to be a guest designer for Betty's Steampunk Challenge blog.
This is the piece I did for Simply Steampunk Challenges and Betty of Simply B Stamps, Betty has the rights to sell these beautiful line images by
This is part of the Zodiac set but there are lots of images in this style so well worth having a look.
I have made a 6''x 6'' page for my fat book and have used the Leo image. The page has been cut from mount board, stamped with a cover the card stamp and embossed with black Powder, I have used distress inks to colour the back ground.
The Leo Image was coloured with copic's, fussy cut and clear embossed twice, she was then glued to the background.. A couple of eyelets were added and a couple of fancy brads.

Sunday Post Card Art - Guest Designer - Transport.
Well it's still Sunday, Just ;)
I was asked a little while ago by the very talented Mandy of Mandys Magical World Of Art if I would like to host over at Sunday Postcard Art the theme being Transport. Of course I said yes and new exactly what I wanted to do straight off the bat.
I knew I had to use the truck image from Paper Artsy, I am a big fan of the old American pick ups and have not used this for a while.
To enter you can can use what ever style of crafting you like, it just needs to be post card sized, 4''x6''
I cut some 300gsn card to size and mounted it to some chip board to give it some sturdiness.
the truck was stamped first and colour added using the distress pens, I then cut a mask and stamped the Tim Holtz location stamp over the top in blue archival ink.
I added the fireman from De StempelWinkel and again masked him so I could add the speedo from the Paper Artsy set, I also added the spark plugs also from the same set.
a couple more Tim Holtz stamps and some distress inks for the background and then it was ready for a couple of coats of Embossing Powder.
To join in the fun head on over to Sunday Postcard Art and just enter a link to your postcard in the comments section.
Thanks for stopping by as always, your comments really mean a lot x

The Octopode Factory - Pink And Green
I hope you are all geared up for a good weekend? As always a great big thanks for stopping by.
Today we are back over at The Octopode Factory and starting our new challenge, the theme this fortnight is Pink And Green.
We want to see any type of craft project as long as it is based around our theme.
You do not need to use an Octopode Factory image but if you do your name will go into the prize draw twice, and of course you can enter more than once x
For my project I made another page for my Dyan Reaveley Journal.
The image I have used is the Zombie Doll and she has been printed out on to 300gsm card and coloured with Copic's and clear embossed.
The background has been created with Decoart Products. I base coated the page with some green acrylic paint and used different colour acrylic paint for some stamping, I used one of Neil Walkers back ground stamps available at The Artistic Stamper as well as a couple of Tim Holtz stamps just to add some texture and interest.
I used one of Andy Skinners masks and applied acrylic paint through it and then grabbed my new favourite stencil which was kindly given to me as a b'day present this week by Suzanne .
I traced the outline and then used Decoart's Paper effects Pink Pearl This is kind of like a 3d paint pen, only it comes in a bottle and you get two nozzles to use, a thick and a thin, which is very thin. Something that if you had good handwriting would be pretty cool, sadly my handwriting sucks ;)
The wing design was filled in with the Paper Effects and left to dry.The Zombie Doll image was added and the Fly stamp was stamped randomly with black archival ink. I finished off by using the paper effects to randomly scribble across the page, more of the pink and a little of the peacock gold. you can see how thin the fine nozzle is in the smaller pictures.
Thank you so much for stopping by, We would love to see you over at The Octopode Factory this fortnight.

Fun With ATC's - Stripes
Welcome back and thank you for stopping by. Over here in my corner of the Uk the weather seems to have turned from full on Summer to the middle of Autumn over night, However I can not leave the warm summer colours alone, I think I need to hold on to the memory of the good weather for as long as poss, It is usually pretty pap her most of the time ;)
The theme over at Fun With ATC's this fortnight is 'Stripes'
My ATC as always was cut from mount board, I stained it with Yellow Distress inks and stamped the DaVinci image using black archival ink. The stamp available from De Stempelwinkel HERE.
I ran the ATC through a Sizzix embossing folder that fit the theme perfectly and used Persimmon Distress inks to high light the raised areas with some cut n dry foam,It was finished off with some black soot around the edge and 2 coats of clear embossing, even with 2 coats you can still feel the ridge details.
The 'Artist' stamp is from Tim Holtz and has been stamped onto 300 gsm paper and has been coloured with the same Distress inks, the lines are also from a Tim stamp. It has been attached to the ATC with a couple of clips from 7 Gypsies.
You have 2 weeks to get your thinking caps on and off course we would love to see you over ther joining in. Its well worth stopping by just to see what the rest of the DT have created.
Thanks for stopping by, Ill be back latter in the week with some Ally Pally news ;)

Haunted Design House - Early Halloween
Its time for an Early Halloween over at the Haunted Design House (actually it's always Halloween over at HDH) but we are having a 'Halloween In Your Face' Challenge and we are lucky enough to have Lily of The Octopode Factory sponsoring us for this challenge and we have been using her Gloomsvile images, these are perfect for any little Halloween project you may have in mind, tis the season and all that ;)
I used the Devil image and created another Journal page for my Dyan Reaveley journal.
The back ground was sprayed with Dylusion sprays, lemon and lime and left to dry. I used some Tim Holtz stamps as well, You can just see a ghost image of one of the stamps that was stamped in pale ochre archival ink.The other image from the same set, One of his classic sets, was stamped with black archival randomly across the page, I left the top corner clear so I could stamp some of the Lyrics from the classic Rolling Stones song, Sympathy For The Devil. I used the October Crow alphabet stamp set from De Stempelwinkel.
The edge of the page was distressed with Tim Holtz's Festive Berries distress ink and blended into the centre of the page. The whole back ground was then spritzed and flicked with water to give the water damaged look.
Lily's Devil has been coloured with Copics, Fussy cut and clear embossed twice before being glued in place.
As always head on over to The Haunted Design House to see what else the DT have created, and Of course we want to see you get your creep on and join in as well, you have two weeks to join in the fun and next Monday there will be more inspiration from our DT.
Thanks for stopping by. xx
